LESSONS

All lessons run year-round and occur on a weekly basis with 4 scheduled weeks off (Thanksgiving, Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Break).

Cello, Piano and theory lessons are provided on a weekly basis in 30, 45 and 60 minute time slots.

Lessons are expected to be prepared each week and students are encouraged to ask any questions they may have between lessons by calling or emailing. Should parents have any questions concerning their child’s work, calls and emails are always welcome.

Students are expected to bring all their books, materials, and instruments, as necessary, for the lesson.

Neatness is expected. Students are requested to come to lessons with hands washed and nails trimmed. Please no muddy shoes or wet swimsuits. Gum chewing is not permitted at lessons.

Parents are invited to sit in on the lesson.

LESSON ATTENDANCE

There are no refunds for missed or canceled lessons. Your weekly lesson time is specially reserved for you each week, and I am unable to extend my schedule during full teaching days. Please make it a priority to attend your lessons. Advanced notification of a student’s absence is requested as a courtesy, but does not exempt the student from payment as contracted. Please arrive promptly for your scheduled lesson time. If you arrive late for your lesson, you will only have the remaining lesson time. Any lesson may be taken as an online lesson, with notification.

TUITION AND FEES

The monthly tuition is a flat fee regardless of the number of lessons per month. You don’t pay less in months you have 3 lessons nor more in months with 4 or 5 lessons.

Tuition will only be prorated for the first month for students enrolling mid-month.

Family Tuition Discount: The first child in a family enrolled in the program will be charged regular tuition; each additional child from the same family will receive $10 off.

An invoice will be provided on the 1st of each month, it will include tuition, and any music or supplies that have been purchased.

Tuition is due by the 10th of the month, no later than the 15th by check, cash, Zelle or Venmo.  A $20.00 late fee will be accessed on all tuition received after the 15th of the month.

OTHER EXPENSES

Music: The cost of music is not included in tuition fees.  Music will be itemized on your monthly invoice.

Accompanying Fees:  A fee of $35.00 will be charged to accompany any instrumental/vocal solo or concerto for CM or other recitals.

Extra Lessons: Additional lessons will be charged at the normal rate, as needed.

PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS

Learning to play the piano is an ongoing endeavor, which requires dedication and discipline on the part of the student.  Piano study is a partnership between student, parent, and teacher. The lesson is a very small part of the week. It is the responsibility of the student and the parent to see that the remainder of the week is productive.

Work with your child to establish a routine. Students are encouraged to keep a practice record, and to work toward musical goals rather than simply counting minutes. It is consistent, efficient, daily practice that leads to the satisfaction and joy of steady progress towards solid musicianship. Although the quality of the time is most important, I suggest the following guidelines for daily practice:
5-8 years old: 15-20 minutes,  9-11 years old: 25-30 minutes,  12-15 years old: 35-40 minutes,  16 and older: 45-60 minutes.

DISMISSAL

Students may be dismissed for any of the following reasons.
*Repeated failure to attend lessons
*Repeated failure to prepare lessons
*Behavior or attitude problems
*Nonpayment of tuition or other expenses

WITHDRAWAL

By signing the registration form, you are under contract to pay tuition throughout the entire school year. From time to time, a few students will choose to discontinue lessons. It is hoped that this decision is made thoughtfully and only after discussing with the teacher to have closure between the parent, student, and teacher. With this said, we understand that extenuating circumstances may arise.

Students wishing to withdraw from lessons must fill out the withdrawal form and give 30 days notice.
